Privacy policy

We collect as little as we can get away with. This page explains exactly what that means, including the parts we do not control.

Who we are

DevToolSDK ("we", "us") is an independent educational site written and operated by one person, Ronny Vasquez, based in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It is not a company, and there is no organisation behind it.

We are located outside the European Economic Area. Where this site is accessible to visitors in the EEA or the United Kingdom and personal data is processed through advertising, the General Data Protection Regulation applies extraterritorially andRonny Vasquez acts as the data controller for that processing. The rights described below are honoured for every visitor, wherever they are.

What we collect

We collect three things, and only three.

Information you give us deliberately

If you submit the contact form, we receive your name, email address, the reason you selected and your message. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we receive your email address. We use both only to reply to you or to send the newsletter you asked for, and we never sell, rent or share either.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter from any email we send. You can ask us to delete a contact form submission at any time.

Technical information sent by your browser

Our host records standard server logs: IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp and referrer. These exist to keep the site running and secure, are not used to build a profile of you, and are retained for a limited period before being discarded.

Advertising and analytics data collected by third parties

This is the part worth reading carefully, because it is the part we do not control. See below.

Advertising and cookies

This site is funded partly by display advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertising is what keeps the guides free to read, with no signup wall and no paid placement.

  • Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • Third-party vendors, including Google, may place cookies in your browser. We do not have access to the contents of those cookies and cannot read them.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visitingGoogle Ads Settings. You can opt out of a broader set of third-party vendors ataboutads.info/choicesor youronlinechoices.com.
  • Google's own handling of this data is described in theGoogle Privacy & Termspage for partner sites.

Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove ads. It makes them less relevant, which is a trade-off entirely yours to make.

Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent message before personalised advertising cookies are set. That message is delivered by a Google-certified consent management platform. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the link in that message, and we honour the result.

Cookies we set ourselves

Exactly one, and it is not a cookie. Your light/dark theme preference is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key devtoolsdk-theme. It never leaves your device, is never transmitted to us, and exists only so the site does not flash white at you on every page load. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

  • Consent — newsletter subscription and personalised advertising cookies.
  • Legitimate interest — server logs for security and reliability, and replying to a message you chose to send us.

Your rights

Under GDPR, if you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Have your data erased
  • Restrict or object to how we process it
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out
  • Lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), if you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information, and we never have.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@devtoolsdk.com. We respond within 30 days and we do not require you to create an account to ask.

Children

This site is aimed at professional software developers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Our guides link to the tools they cover, sometimes through affiliate links (see ouradvertising and affiliate disclosure). Once you follow a link off this site, you are subject to that site's privacy policy, not ours. We have no control over and take no responsibility for the content or practices of third-party sites.

Data retention

  • Contact form messages — kept while the conversation is active, then deleted.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Server logs — retained by our hosting provider for a limited period.
  • Advertising cookies — set and expired by Google according toits own retention schedule.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we update the effective date at the top of the page. Material changes will also be announced in the newsletter. We will never reduce your rights without telling you.
